It s one of the easiest and most effective fence diy s and i am soooo happy with the end result. Unfortunately the chain link fence conversion to wood fence isn t an easy transition. One of the advantages of chain link fence posts is that they are sturdy and you can take advantage of that characteristic by reusing the posts for. It can be converted to a wood fence however.

So i have an existing chain link fence around my whole yard i am looking to remove the chain link but still use the post and. Many people have old chain link fences in their yard that they would like to upgrade to a wood fence. Fences posts railings and gates converting chain link to wood fence. Issue 1 most chain link fences have posts that are spaced right around 10 apart. As long as your steel posts are solidly in the ground you should be able to convert your chainlink fence to a wood fence pretty easily. The conversion requires the removal of the chain link portion of the fence and replacement with lumber or prefabricated wooden fence panels attached via brackets and tools. My chainlink fence was set up with the posts spaced 8 9 apart instead of the standard 8 spacing.
